“You think you know me. You think you want to know me. But trust me, Miss Lang. Pursuing me will be the worst mistake you ever make. I’m broken beyond repair...
...and I take great pleasure in breaking everyone else around me.” Ophelia Lang needs money, and she needs it bad. Her parent’s restaurant is going under, and ever since she lost her job teaching third grade elementary, scraping enough cash together to pay the bills has proven almost impossible. Her parents are on the brink of losing their home. The vultures are circling overhead. So when Ophelia is offered an interview for a well-paid private tutoring gig in New York, how can she possibly say no? Ronan Fletcher is far from the overweight, balding businessman Ophelia expected him to be. He’s young, handsome, and wealthy beyond all reason. He’s also perhaps the coldest, rudest person she’s ever met, and has a mean streak in him a mile and a half wide. A hundred grand is a lot of money, however, and if tolerating his frosty temperament, his erratic mood swings and whatever else he throws at her means she’ll get paid, then that is what Ophelia will do. Her new boss is keeping secrets, though. Awful, terrible secrets. The ghosts of Ronan Fletcher’s past are about to turn Ophelia’s future upside down, and she can’t even see it coming. Note: Between Here and The Horizon is a brand new standalone contemporary romance novel from USA Today bestselling author, Callie Hart. Between Here and the Horizon does contain some scenes of violence and sexual content, and so is directed at audience 18+. Review
Between Here and the Horizon is the first book I read by Callie Hart. I didn’t know what to expect but knew it would be something I wanted to read from just the blurb itself. I thought the beginning of the book started off a little slow, but nonetheless, I was still intrigued with the plot, and the twists and turns. Every time I thought I had things figured out I was blindsided with the complete opposite.
Ophelia finds herself in an unpredicted situation. She is out of a teaching job and applies for a temporary Nanny job. She is trying to help her parents with the family’s restaurant and little does she know that her life is about to change drastically. I loved that Ophelia was very family oriented, had a huge heart, and how she was willing to make some sacrifices to help her parents as well as others. Something happens shortly after she is hired, but unfortunately, this is one of those books that you definitely have to go in completely blind, and for that reason I will not disclose any other information. Overall, this book was a great read filled with lots of unexpected things and without a doubt you will be in shock with some of the events throughout the book.

“Promise me one thing. Promise me you’ll live.”
Claire Fortune arrives in Boston with an old notebook and her best friend’s dying wish – to finish the scribbled bucket list that Hope didn’t have time to complete. Moment by moment, Claire builds a life she never dreamed of – until Theo walks into the coffee-shop one crisp September afternoon, and her careful plans scatter on the winds. Sometimes a chance meeting can change a life forever. Sometimes fate knows exactly what we need. Perfect for fans of ‘Me Before You’ and ‘The Fault in Our Stars’, ‘The Promise’ brings together two people searching for a love that can overcome tragedy. A heartbreakingly romantic novel that challenges us to live – and love - every day as if it were our last.
